HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT........
WELCOME TO OUR OFFICE:
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our friendly and knowledgeable staff. Because of our continued compliance with the Governments'HIPPA regulations, there will be a few patient forms that will need to be completed (or, in the case of returning patients, updated), so we ask that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. For your convenience, you may download and print these forms ahead of time. |
WHAT TO BRING:
1 – A valid Photo ID
2 – Your insurance card (s)
3 – An updated list of any medications that you take, including OTC medications
4 – Your current eyeglasses
5 – Information on your current contact lenses (if you have it)
6 – Sunglasses, if you have a pair
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:
Our technician will begin your exam by checking your visual acuity (how well you see) both with and without your current correction. She will check your depth perception and evaluate your color vision. A simple base-line auto-refraction will be performed and, in some cases, a Visual Field (peripheral vision) diagnostic test will be administered. At this point, you will have your eyes dilated (it's OK if you don't have sunglasses, we'll give you a disposable pair).
If you choose to have it done, the Optomap Retinal Imaging machine is next. What is this? Simply put, it's a a specialized camera that takes a very detailed and magnified picture of the inside and back of your eye. The digitized photographs allow the doctor to see any possible areas of concern or (if you've had it done before) changes between your last photos and now. These pictures are an excellent diagnostic tool and, if there IS a medical reason to have them done, can be billed to your medical insurance. While everyone can benefit from having them done, these pictures are especially important for those with Diabetes, Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma and other diseases that impact your vision.
The next phase of your appointment will be conducted by Dr. Miller. He will perform a complete and detailed refraction (the portion of the examination that provides us with your eyeglass prescription) and conduct an internal and external eye health check. He will also do a pressure check on your eyes. If you chose to have the Optomap retinal screening done, Dr. Miller will go over the results at this time. If necessary, patients with certain eye diseases or other medical problems may have additional medical testing now.
If you are updating your contact lenses, you will now be placed back in the capable hands of our technician to update or change your lenses.
(*Please note: Not all of our patients have the same needs. Your exam may differ from this description in order to more precisely fit your specific needs.)
HOW LONG WILL MY ORDER TAKE?:
Contact lens orders usually arrive within 1 to 3 business days. Our technician will keep you informed if your product is on any kind of a delay or if your items are a special order.
Here at Dr. Miller's office, we strive to provide our patients with a comfortable, knowledgeable and thorough exam experience coupled with first class customer service. Doc and all of us on staff work hard to ensure that you are treated as a valued patient, NOT as the next customer in line.
Please remember that payment for services and contact lens orders will be required at the completion of your visit.
